Which I know sounds like such an odd thing to say considering the nature of rhinoplasty surgery but I honestly couldn’t fault anything. I was absolutely terrified to not only fly to Istanbul alone but also have surgery in a foreign country. But the moment I got to the airport Ryan was there to greet me which I think was such a lovely thing to do as he knew I was flying alone and would appreciate seeing a friendly face. My flight was quite late so the fact that he gave up his evening to meet me was really sweet. He came with me to the hotel and showed me around and helped me get checked in.The hotel was incredible, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate whatever you need (even contacting the local pharmacy for paracetamol to be delivered to your room). The nurses at the infirmary again were amazing and really made me feel at ease if I had anything I was worried about and there to answer any questions or concerns I had.On the morning of the surgery I had to be at the hospital for 11.00. Ryan came with me and waited while I had my blood tests and pre-op checks. Once we had confirmation that my bloods and everything was ok, I made my way to my assigned hospital room, there was a bit of a wait as they were giving it a thorough sterilising, which is part of their medical process. The room was so clean and the en-suite was lovely. There was even a safe which I could put my bag and personal belongings in which made me feel so safe.Once I was settled. I got changed into my hospital gown and compression socks (which the nurse helped me put on). Then I was taken down to the operating theatre at about 15.00 for surgery. When I woke up the nurses were there straight away to check on me and had already applied ice packs over my eyes and nose to eliminate some of the swelling and give me pain relief. They monitored me right through the evening and night until I was picked up by my transfer the next morning.When I got back to the hotel, staff were there to greet me and after collecting some ice packs from the infirmary I went back to my room to rest. Staff were brilliant at bringing food and drinks to my room and supplied me with lots of bottled water.I honestly cannot fault anything. For someone who has hated their nose for a long time and didn’t know anything about Rhinoplasty, Ryan answered all of my questions regarding the process and what to expect. And if he couldn’t answer anything medical he was in constant contact with the surgeon Dr Safak.I’m now 1 month post op and myself, Ryan and Dr Safak are really pleased with my progress and how my nose is healing and confident the final result will be what I wanted to achieve. I honestly feel like even 1 month post op it looks so much better than it did before. I’m enjoying seeing the progress each day and watching the swelling reduce and looking forward to having the nose I’ve always dreamed of.Dr Safak is an amazing, talented surgeon with an acute attention to detail, he took into account my ethnic heritage and created a nose that suited my face - what works for one face may not suit another. He really listened to my thoughts and feelings and what I wanted to achieve.
